“We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are.”

This is a quote from The Talmud that I read recently. It struck me as so important to share as we celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month.

Last week I was lucky enough to spend the day with the head gardener (Alex) at The Small Holding, a local Michelin green starred restaurant that practices a farm to fork philosophy.

If I am honest, starting my own business has felt super stressful, and I didn’t want to take a day out of my ‘working week’ to learn about plants! However, it was a Christmas gift, and so I cleared my diary and went along, not knowing what to expect.

It was amazing! There were just two of us (me and Sue) and we were encouraged to get to work in the garden, clearing weeds and planting up new crops ready for the chefs to weave their magic on menus. Just being outdoors in the dirt and the sunshine lifted my spirits and made me remember that life and nature are indeed necessary if we are to thrive.
